Fratelli Piacenza: A Journey Into Spring and Summer Luxury.
This week, Coop has agreed to take us on a sartorial adventure. Think luxury- simplicity- versatility.
As you may be aware, our John Cooper Collection is a highly curated line of apparel here at Leviner Wood — a gallery of clothing that is more suitable worn on your back, than hung on our wall. One such garment is a sportcoat made from the Piacenza Spring and Summer weight cashmere and silk herringbone.
Our adventure starts in Italy, at the Fratelli Piacenza fabric mill – founded in 1733— where the sourcing of raw materials begins the journey. FP identifies localities, breeders, and farms for sourcing the best raw materials in the world. The life led by the animal, the quality of its habitat and its nourishment is reflected in the quality of the fleece.
This summer weight, finely woven worsted fabric is made from rare Alashan Cashmere, twisted with and enhanced by the brightness of a super fine silk yarn. The high quality of the water in Biella, Italy is essential for the processing of the fibers and, combined with the skilled finishing processes by the artists at the mill, enhances the innate characteristics of the raw fibers. The final product is a fabric of exceptional softness and (the highly-desirable for spring and summer) moisture-wicking and thermo-regulating characteristics of a super lightweight wool with the tensile strength of silk. Fratelli Piacenza is the only mill in the world creating this fabric.
From classic colors to summer pastels, you will have difficulty choosing only one of these herringbone colors.
Many skilled hands contributed to making your next ‘go-to’ sportcoat. From the sourcing of the raw materials, to the centuries of experience at Piacenza in Italy, to the expertise of the tailors at Leviner Wood. John Cooper has delivered again. Wear this special piece with pride.
“This garment tells a luxurious story of a great adventure.” John Cooper
